Governor Jagdish Mukhi Reviews Flood Situation In AssamGovernor

Guwahati, July 19, 2019:

Governor of Assam, Jagdish Mukhi today reviewed the prevailing flood situation in presence of Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Alok Kumar and the senior officials of Revenue and DM Department at the Governor house.

As per the updates of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, as the water level in some districts have been receding, as on today, total 3,705 number of villages in 92 revenue circles of 27 number of Districts Viz. Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Baksa, Barpeta, Nalbari, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, KarbiAnglong, Golaghat, Majuli, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar, and Karimganjare having flood waters affecting a population of 48, 87,443as on date.

Presently, 755 numbers of Relief Camps are operational in the districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Morigaon, Nagaon, KarbiAnglong, Golaghat, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar and Karimganj districts with 1,47,833 inmates and 304 Relief Distribution Centres in the districts of Lakhimpur, Darrang, Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, South Salmara, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, Nagaon and Golaghat.

Eleven people have lost their lives due to flood in the districts of Barpeta (3), Dhubri (5) and Morigaon (3) in last 24 hours. In this season, the total loss of human lives has risen to 48 persons in due to floods and 2 persons in the landslide.

The water level of rivers at danger Level are as follows: the Brahmaputra at Neamatighat (Jorhat), Guwahati (Kamrup), Goalpara and Dhubri; Dhansiri (S) at Numaligarh (Golaghat); JiaBharali at N.T.Rd.Xing (Sonitpur) and Kopili at Dharamtul (Nagaon).
