The historic ‘Bodo Accord’ has been signed between the Government of India and the four factions of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) on Monday.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, NDFB Ranjan Daimari, Govinda Basumatary, Dhiren Boro and B Saoraigra were present during the signing of the Bodo Accord on Monday.

“Today Government of India, Assam Government, ABSU, NDFB-P, NDFB-R and NDFB-S have signed the Bodo Agreement, which also has Hagrama Mohilary’s signature. This Agreement is a proof of the golden phase of Bodoland in the long run,” said Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Nine organizations have agreed to the Agreement, which is aimed a peaceful Bodoland. The Centre has announced a package of Rs 1500 Crore to the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District (BTAD) over a period of three years.

It is to be noted here that the BTAD will now be called the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Shah has announced that new DIG will be assigned for BTR. He also informed that the NDFB cadres will surrender on January 30.
Land rights, Bodo culture and language will be protected and five lakh compensation will be provided to the families of the people who died during the Bodo Andolan, informed Shah.

“The Bodo Accord is a significant step towards a peaceful Bodoland,” said Amit Shah, adding that the government will try to fulfill the promises within the stipulated time.
Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary said, “"This new Accord will not harm the interests of any community or any religion. There were many issues that the Bodo organizations had. Since these were not getting resolved, the Bodos had demanded that the Government give them a separate state -- Bodoland. Now, the Government has agreed to their demands, within the state of Assam...”

Assam Minister Himanta biswa Sarma said, “The Bodo Accord shall reaffirm the territorial integrity of Assam and at the same time usher us into a new hope of peace and progress in Bodoland. My best wishes.”
