GUWAHATI: The state education department has directed both the government and private educational institutions to promote all the students from Class I to IX standard to the next class whether irrespective of the fact that they appear in the annual examinations or not. and the next academic session should start invariably from 1st April 2021 unless there is any further direction from the government.

 

The development comes due to the COVID-19 lockdown situation in the state.

“In view of the lockdown in the state of Assam from the month of March till 01' November. 2020, the school, were physically closed and online classes were conducted by the schools and the education Department through Digital devices and due to Digital divide many of the students could not afford online classes,” stated in the order.

 

The notice further read that now, considering all aspects and also the fact that the students do not lose any academic year, educational institutions can conduct annual examination physically in schools, but it is not compulsory and the annual exam can be conducted in the 1st week of March 2021.
