GST HAS NOT BEEN ENCOURAGING IN ASSAM

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the meeting with 15th Finance Commision held at Guwahati today, stated about the GST in Assam which has not been encouraging till date. There is an estimate 15-20% loss when collections are compared with expected revenue on a monthly basis.

Although the budget expenditure has increased from Rs 42,000 crore in 2015-2016 to around 70,000 crore in 2017-2018, with capital expenditure increasing from around Rs 4900 crore in 2015-16 to Rs 12,800 crore in 2017-18 and also the revenue collection of various taxes under the State Government saw an average increase of around 20% yet in last two years an estimate of 15-20% has been loss while comparing to expected revenue on monthly basis.
