Heavy rains (accompanied by thunder and lightning) are pelting Guwahati city of Assam sending citizens scampering for cover.
The rain began at around 9 pm on Sunday as city dwellers were about to turn in for the night after enjoying their Sundays which also coincided with Mother's Day.
But thunder was suddenly seen which was followed by heavy gusts of wind. Thereafter, heavy pellets of rain started falling from the skies and the people were seen scrambling to find cover.
It may be mentioned that heavy rains have been experienced all over the Northeast in the aftermath of the Cyclone Fani which mainly affected Odisha and West Bengal. Meanwhile, rain has been forecasted in the Northeast till Saturday, reports said.
