Guwahati, November 6, 2019:

Cricket lover of Assam can rejoice as Guwahati city will be hosting Indian Premier League (IPL) matches at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) co-owner Manoj Badale on Wednesday confirmed the development and announced that it is going to set up a cricket academy here in association with Assam Cricket Association, by January 2020.

Manoj Badale during his visit to the Barsapara Cricket Stadium said that two matches of the IPL will be played in the city.

Reportedly, Rajasthan Royals had requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India to allow playing few matches in Guwahati. Usually, the team plays its home games at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Assam’s Riyan Parag is one of the key players of the Rajasthan Royals. It may be mentioned here that Riyan is the youngest player to score a half-century in the history of IPL.

The auction for players for this season, IPL 13, is likely to be held on December 19th, 2019.
