GUWAHATI: Biswajit Pegu, the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (M), today has announced 8 wards in Guwahati as containment zones in the light of spike in COVID-19 positive cases.
As reported, Ward no. 3, 8, 14, 16, 24, 28, 29 and 31 had registered the highest number of COVID positive cases and hence declared as containment zones.
The areas that lie under these wards and declared containment zones are - Beltola, Basistha chariali, Fatasil, Ambari, Barshapara, Dhirenpara, Kumarpara, AT Road, MAchkhowa, Bhootnath, Khanapara, Panjabari, Hatigaon, Ulubari, Rehabari, Solapara, DGP Complex, Maligaon, Pandu, Narengi, Banda and Bilpara.

In containment zones, grocery, fruit and vegetable shops shall be open from 8 am to 12 noon though there would be no restrictions for medical shops.
other food materials such as meat and fish will be sold in mobile vending systems area to area.
All these restrictions to come into force from tomorrow from 2 pm onwards for the next 14 days.
