GUWAHATI: Ballot voting for about 3,000 'Absentee Voters' who were unable to cast their ballots in polling booths has began today in four constituencies in Kamarup (M).
The 10-day voting process, which began from today will be continued till April 5, that will include in-house voters over the age of 80, and voters with disabilities as well as those affected by COVID-19.
Voting will take place in the comfort of one's home, with one micro observer, two polling officers, a videographer, and a police official visiting the absentee voter's home and allowing them to cast their ballots according to the specified protocol.
This is the first time that the Election Commission (EC) has introduced this system to ensure that every eligible voter has the right to vote in a safe manner.
