GUWAHATI: A Guwahati man was thrashed by a mob of nearly 10 people in broad daylight at his residential area in M.A. Road, Rehabari.
The incident took place last Sunday when the victim was coming from his work, as informed by his daughter Shivalika Patranabish, and had a small verbal argument with some workers of a company nearby his residence.
"My father was coming from his work and the workers of a private organisation, namely Saurav Agency, was doing loading/unloading from a tempo which was blocking the road. My father asked them to move the tempo so he could pass his car. After asking them for several times finally the tempo driver moved the vehicle but he intentionally crashed at my father's car which has irked him a bit and they had a small argument," said Shivalika talking with InsideNE.
Shivalika added, "When my father realised that they were drunken he decided to leave the place but tempo driver called a few other of his contacts and started hitting my father. His face was all bloodied. He tried to counter in defence but it was impossible for him to do so as there were over 10 persons attacking him at the same time."

After the incident, Patranabish had filed an FIR (No. 914/21) at Paltan Bazaar Police Station under IPC sections 279/325/506/34, but justice is yet to be done.
Talking to InsideNE, Paltan Bazaar Police Station Assistant sub-inspector S.K. Das informed that the accused party have also filed an FIR against Patranabish and the case is underway. Once medical reports are done the case is to be handed over to the court.
It was later found out that the fitness certificate of the tempo used by the driver has expired long ago.
"They have lodged a fake FIR against us that my father incited a machete attack on them, which is completely false. Someone from the locality had come out with a knife in his hand in order to stop the mob. We do not even know that person. He did it because it was happening infront of him. Now they the owner of the agency is blackmailing us to withdraw our case and they will do the same. But we are not going to step back. It has happened with us today and if we step back they will get encouraged to attempt the same with someone else. So let the court decide," said Shivalika.
"It was a full-fledged mob attack on my father. He could have died. This cannot be tolerated or ignored though many have suggested us not get indulged in legal process which will be more traumatizing for us," Shivalika added.
