Assam: Guwahati Police arrests drug trafficking accused

GUWAHATI: In a joint operation, the Guwahati Police along with Manipur Police apprehended a key linkman of a Manipur based drug trafficking network that was trying to spread its tentacles in Assam. The accused has been bought back to Assam.

The accused has been identified as Shabir Ahamad of Kwakta, Bishnupur District of Manipur.

The arrest has been made in connection with Basistha PS Case No 1533/21 u/s 21(C)/29 NDPS Act, which relates to the earlier seizure of a large quantity of Heroin and a truck as well as the arrest of 2 accused in Guwahati on Aug 19, 2021.

The Joint Operation was conducted in Moirang area of Bishnupur District of Manipur, which is considered very sensitive from the Law & Order perspective.

Preliminary questioning has revealed valuable information about drug trafficking networks.
