Aadi Singha, a student of St. Francis De Sales School, in Guwahati, Assam has been selected as a Youth Ambassador of India under the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (KL-YES) Program, sponsored by the U.S. Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

She is one of only two students from Assam to make it to this year’s highly competitive, fully funded exchange program, which allows Indian students to live and study in the U.S. while participating in cultural diplomacy.

The school held a press meet on campus to celebrate the achievement, attended by Principal Rev. Fr. George Thomas, Academic Director Sangeeta Bharali Dutta, and Aadi’s parents.

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. George Thomas commended Aadi’s accomplishment. “Her success is a matter of great pride for the entire SFS community,” he said.

Aadi also addressed the gathering, sharing insights from her application journey and expressing her gratitude. “Being selected for the KL-YES Program is an incredible opportunity. I’m truly grateful to my teachers, mentors, and parents for supporting me throughout,” she said.

The KL-YES program is a fully-funded exchange initiative that gives Indian high school students the opportunity to live with an American host family, attend a U.S. high school, and actively engage in cultural exchange and diplomacy.

The press meet included an interactive session with the media and concluded with a vote of thanks by Krishna Medhi, Public Relations Officer, who acknowledged the media’s role in celebrating and amplifying the achievements of young changemakers like Aadi.
