HAFLONG: In a worrying development reportedly from the hilly Dima Hasao district, the Haflong Municipal Board workers have ceased work due to nonpayment of even months' worth of pending salary.
The workers have complained that despite working hard on their jobs, they are not being paid their due salary on time and the concerned officials have also not heard their concerns.
“It is such filthy work. Some of us have shifts from 3 am and some from 5 am. Despite rain and heat, we never stop working. We simply want the salaries. The concerned authorities should at least sit with us and tell us for how many months they will pay us and what amount will be left pending,” lamented a middle-aged woman worker.

Another woman chided the officials for not addressing their concern and remaining mum.
“We are doing continuous duty. We should get wages. How else will we eat? The concerned people do not ask us anything,” she said.
"If the pending salaries are not cleared, we will not join our duties which will impact the hygiene conditions in and around the town and things will only get worse,' warned another worker.
