Hailakandi administration forms task force against chemical use in sweets, fruits

HAILAKANDI: Following complaints of harmful chemicals being used in fruits and in making sweets, a five-member district level task force has been constituted by the Hailakandi district administration today.

An order said the administration has formed the task force to look into complaints received from the public that some unscrupulous businessmen were using harmful chemicals in fruits and in preparing sweets, including jelebi.

Besides, visiting the fruit and sweetmeat shops of the district, the task force will also visit the groceries at Sirajpatty and Gastola areas to check the price of potato.

The task force will submit action taken report to deputy commissioner Megh Nidhi Dahal.

The task force comprises executive magistrate-cum-assistant commissioner Raghuraj Baidya, inspectors BC Deka, Gautam Chakraborty, Mun Paul, all from food, civil supplies and corporate affairs and food safety officer.
