The Hailakandi district administration held a meeting with the representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) Monday.
In the meeting held, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli asked the PRI representatives to work hard for bringing in development at the grassroots level. She exhorted upon them to ensure timely implementation of different development schemes and projects.
Jalli interacted with the grassroots level functionaries to get the feedback on the problems facing them in their respective gaon panchayats. The representatives from 62 gaon panchayats apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the constraints they are facing and sought help in overcoming them.

The administration tried to prevail upon the grassroots level functionaries that they have to set an agenda to achieve social goals and always remain sensitive to the needs of the people. It was driven home that PRIs can be effective instruments for large-scale development interventions at the grassroots level.
Jalli said that she would henceforth monitor all the schemes and projects and sought cooperation from all to bring in transformation at the grassroots level.
Assuring her unstinted support and cooperation in ushering development at the grassroots level, DC, Jalli asked the elected representatives to hold gram sabha meeting regularly.
This is the first meeting of the PRI representatives with the district administration after the panchayat elections held in December last year.
CEO, Zilla Parishad cum Project Director, DRDA, NKSK Singha, Katlicherra MLA, Suzam Uddin Laskar, BJP district president, Subrata Nath, president of Zilla Parishad, Farhana Khanam Choudhury and senior officials of the administration were present.
