The Hailakandi Municipal Board lodged an FIR against some local goons for manhandling some workers of the board while they were dumping garbage at the Kuchila dumping site.
Executive Officer, Hailakandi Municipal Board, Prodip Timung asked the Superintendent of Police to register a case against eight accused persons and a group of 50 local goons armed with lethal weapons for threatening two truck drivers and a muster roll worker of the board of dire consequences and hurling abusive words while they were dumpling garbage at the board's own dumping ground at around 10 am Thursday.

The miscreants also pelted stones at the workers of the municipal board and damaged the windscreen of a vehicle. One worker was injured during stone-pelting.
Following the incident, garbage clearance from nook and corner of Hailakandi town has been affected. The board owns the plot of land measuring 10 bighas since 1970.
