GUWAHATI: Harmeet Singh, a 1992-batch IPS (Indian Police Service) officer, has taken charge as the new Guwahati Police Commissioner.
Singh has been relieved of his additional charge of the Additional Director-General of Police (Administration and M&L).
"Took over charge as CP @guwahatipolice today. Meanwhile, Singh's predecessor Munna Prasad Gupta, who was substantively posted as ADGP (CID), Assam for the purpose of drawal of salary only and was allowed to function as Commissioner of Police Guwahati is transferred and posted substantially as ADGP (Vigilance & Anti-Corruption), Assam for the purpose of drawal of salary only.
Munna Prasad Gupta will also hold the additional charge of ADGP (Administration and M&L), Assam.
Guwahati police, posting from the official handle, thanked Gupta for his "exemplary leadership" and wished him success in his new and challenging assignment.
"We also congratulate Sh Harmeet Singh, IPS for taking charge as our new CP. We reiterate our resolve to continue protecting & serving the citizens," it further wrote in the tweet.
