GUWAHATI: Leading singer Zubeen Garg today welcomed the Assam government’s directive to wind up Bihu stage programmes by 11 pm.
Zubeen said he has always of the view that stage programmes during Bihu should wrap up early.
The idol of many youngsters also appealed the people to wear mask and maintain social distance during the Rongali Bihu celebrations. The singer of Ya Ali fame was talking to few media persons on the issue.
Meanwhile, the Brihattar Guwahati Bihu Samannay Rakhi Samiti today staged a sit-in demonstration against the COVID-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) issued by the Assam government ahead of the Rongali Bihu celebrations.

Staging a protest at Latasil ground here, the Samiti, an umbrella organisation of all Bihu committees in Guwahati, demanded the Assam government to revoke two clauses of the SOP.
They urged the state government to extend the 11 pm deadline of winding up stage programmes and roll back the order of mandatory COVID test of all the Bihu committee members.
