GUWAHATI: Northeastern states of Assam and Meghalaya, along with other states are likely to be lashed by heavy rainfall on May 25, warned the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD has predicted that heavy rains in Odisha-West Bengal and adjoining Assam and Meghalaya on May 25.
This was informed in a press notice released yesterday.
The southwest monsoon is expected to move through the South Andaman Sea and into the southeast Bay of Bengal, according to forecasts. It's expected to happen around May 21, stated in the press release.

The release also stated that other atmospheric and ocean conditions, such as a favourable atmosphere for convection and a warm sea surface temperature, are also favourable over the region around May 22.
Hence, on May 22, a low-pressure area is expected to develop over the north Andaman Sea and the east-central Bay of Bengal.
Moreover, it is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the subsequent 72 hours before moving to the Odisha Coast on May 25 evening.
