GUWAHATI: A day after BJP strongman Himanta Biswa Sarma called the Congress a demonetized Rs 500 currency note, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) media cell chairperson Bobbeeta Sharma hit back at him branding his comments as petty slurs.

"Himanta Biswa Sarma can only make such petty comments. He is all about that only," Sharma told InsideNE when asked about the jibe at the grand old party by the BJP minister at Udalguri yesterday.

"I do not even find these comments worth responding to," Sharma added, speaking on the sidelines of Congress youth cell’s new campaign ‘CAA Nohoi, Sakori Lage (We do not need CAA, we need jobs)’ that was launched today along with ‘Congressor 5 guarantee’ campaign ahead of Assam assembly elections 2021 to reach out to the youths of Assam.

Sarma taunted the Congress party saying: “I wonder what made Hagrama Mohilary join hands with the Congress. I would like to ask him where does Congress exist today? Is it in UP? Is it in Bihar? The plight of Congress is like a demonetized Rs 500 currency note. It’s worth nothing after (Narendra) Modi demonetized it. I know, zero plus zero is equal to zero, not one.”

Sarma also did not hesitate to take a jibe at BJP's ally of last five years Mohilary as calling his Bodoland People’s Front a punctured football, and “when there is no air inside the ball, will it move ahead even if you apply force?"

The war of words between the Congress and the BJP is scaling newer heights each passing day as the election dates are getting closer and both the parties are hell-bent on dragging one another across the line with words.
