GUWAHATI: Amid growing intrigue over which parties will form the new administration in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has hinted that there will be a change in the administration in the Bodo-dominated region in Assam, after he said that the public has voted for "parivartan" (change).

Meanwhile, the BJP is in discussions with both the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) and the United People's Party Liberal to form the Government.

"After the results that came in yesterday, it has become clear that parivartan (change) is the consensus. Although our alliance with Hagrama shall be intact till the 2021 election, the mandate is for change. We will make formal announcements after meeting the Chief Minister. The BJP made serious inroads in the BTR this time around. From winning one seat in the last election to nine this time around, we have made some serious gains which makes us proud. This is a dream come true," Sarma told media persons moments earlier.

B R Ferenga, former National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) cadre who won the election from the Chirangduar Constituency, today asserted in front of media in Guwahati that a new administration in the BTR is "certain."

The much-awaited voting for the BTC began on December 7 with over 77.01 per cent voters exercising their franchise in the first phase of polling for 21 seats in Udalguri and Baksa districts, where 130 candidates have contested.

The BPF has emerged as the single largest party, winning 17 Seats, while the UPPL has won 12. The BJP, which carried out extensive campaigning in the region, won 9 Seats.
