Himanta Biswa Sarma appeals people to celebrate this year’s Durga Puja in a low key

Assam Health & Family Welfare, Finance, Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to the people of the state to celebrate this year’s Durga Puja in a low key. Sarma requested the people for a low key celebration to keep the spread of COVID-19 in control.  

Sarma also urged the people to celebrate the puja only in a spiritual and religious manner. He said that if the people celebrate it in a big way then things may turn worse.

Earlier in the day, Sarma said that there is any likely hood of a COVID-19 vaccine before December this year. He however assured that the state government is trying its best in all aspect. However, he admitted that state health department is going through many ups and downs.

Addressing a gathering at a Plasma Donation Programme at Gauhati Medical College Hospital, Sarma further stated that the state government will arrange for vaccine and therapeutic vaccine against the contagion in the month of December. He added that the COVID-19 situation in Assam will remain challenging till the end of November. The cumulative infected tally for October and November will be more than 75000.
