Himanta Biswa Sarma, Biswajit Daimary Mourn Passing Away of Former Kokrajhar MP Charan Narzary

Guwahati, July 23, 2019:

The state of Assam mourned the passing of former Lok Sabha MP Charan Narzary today. The former MP passed away after prolonged illness at the age of 87. Many prominent leaders of the state, such as Finance Minister Himanta Biswa, and Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, have come together to pay respect to the much-respected politician-cum-academician who is well-renowned for helping the student fraternity of the State.

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his deepest condolences after the luminary's passing. Extending his condolences to the family of Narzary, he said that his contributions in the world of politics, and academics will not be forgotten.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary said: "I am deeply saddened by the news of our great leader Charan Narzary's passing. He was a politician, ex. MP, ex. MLA, Literary and one of the prominent social thinkers of Bodos and tribals. He was the founder General Secretary of the Plains Tribal Council of Assam (PTCA), which first demanded "Udayachal", or self administrative autonomy for tribal people of Assam. My heartfelt condolences to his family. May God keep his soul in peace."

Former Kokrajhar MP Charan Narzary breathed his last at Down Town Hospital in Guwahati at around 4:30 am on Tuesday.
