Himanta Biswa Sarma confirms he won't contest Vidhan Sabha election

Guwahati, February 25, 2019:

State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday confirmed that he will not contest in the 2021 Vidhan Sabha elections. Biswa Sarma also commented that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win all 19 seats in the upcoming election.

Addressing the media during a programme at North Lakhimpur, Sarma said, “We will win all the 19 seats in this election. However, I will not participate in the 2021 Vidhan Sabha election so there is a chance that I will contest for the Lok Sabha seat. If the party decides to give me the chance I’ll go for Lok Sabha, otherwise, I’ll have to wait for the next five year to contest in an election.”

It may be mentioned that ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the BJP party has been undertaking rigorous campaigning.
