Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended heartfelt greetings to the Dimasa-Kachari community on the auspicious occasion of Busu Dima, a vibrant harvest festival that celebrates agricultural abundance and cultural unity.  

Taking to the social media platform X, the chief minister expressed his sentiments, stating, "Heartiest greetings to the brothers and sisters from the Dimasa-Kachari community on the auspicious occasion of Busu Dima. A harvest festival, which brings together the community in joy and celebration, it enriches Assam's unique and diverse social fabric."  

The term "Busu" translates to "harvest festival" in Dimasa, while "Dima" reflects the identity of the community. Celebrated with remarkable fervor, Busu Dima marks the conclusion of the harvest season, offering the Dimasa people an opportunity to express gratitude to the deities and nature for their blessings. This deeply symbolic occasion highlights the community’s agrarian roots while emphasizing their connection to nature.  

Beyond being a celebration of the harvest, Busu Dima serves as a vibrant platform to preserve and showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Dimasa-Kachari people. The festival bridges the past and present, fostering unity and solidarity within the community.  

Observed in January or February, depending on the agricultural calendar and lunar cycle, the festivities span several days. Each day is marked by unique rituals, cultural performances, and traditional activities, adding grandeur to the occasion and highlighting the community's vibrant traditions.  

Busu Dima stands as a testament to Assam's rich and diverse cultural tapestry, symbolizing the harmony of its indigenous communities.
