Himanta Biswa Sarma reaches Kaziranga for 'rest' amid hectic poll schedule

GOLAGHAT: Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reached the historic Kaziranga National Park via his helicopter a little while ago amid the ongoing third phase and final phase of polling in Assam.

Speaking to the media after landing in Kaziranga, the minister said that he will spend the night at Kaziranga tonight as he wishes to take some rest after marathon election schedules.

Sarma, who cast his vote at the Amingaon Higher Secondary School earlier in the morning today, has also confirmed that he is slated to attend a few election rallies in neighbouring West Bengal where the saffron party is seeking to topple Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool for the first time.

Asked about the party’s agenda if it is re-elected to power outside the polling booth, Biswa Sarma said, “It is the development of Assam and the safeguard of our culture.”

Himanta Biswa further added that the party will seek to fulfill the promises made in its Sankalp Parta manifesto in case it is re-elected to power. The minister also predicted that the BJP-led alliance will win 22 of the 40 Seats that are on offer in the third phase of polling.

Legislative Assembly elections for 294 seats of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly are scheduled to be held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in 8 phases. In Assam, elections for 126 Seats will officially come to an end today.
