Three-time former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi has made some startling claims about Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a scathing attack on the ally-turned-foe in view of denial of ticket to the Finance Minister by the BJP leadership in New Delhi.
Speaking exclusively to InsideNE about Himanta Biswa Sarma’s apparently submissiveness to the will of the party, Gogoi said: “Himanta Biswa Sarma has to follow the BJP’s dictation or has to risk going to jail. He has no other alternative. He is under compulsion and that is why he is not revolting.”
Tarun Gogoi further lashed out at Himanta Biswa Sarma saying that Sarma does not have the guts to revolt as he is a ‘do numberi BJP’ (second-rate BJP) member. “In politics, a man is just known by his principles and ideologies. R P Sarmah, on the other hand, is able to revolt against the party’s decision not to give him a ticket because he is genuine.”
Gogoi also mocked the Finance Minister and quizzed why Amit Shah, who is looking after the party interests all over the party is being allowed to contest the polls, but Himanta, with the responsibility of a mere 25 NEDA seats, is not being allowed to do so?
