GUWAHATI: Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) President Lurin Jyoti Gogoi today said that his party is sure to wrest away the Jalukbari Constituency from the sitting MLA Himanta Biswa Sarma, who happens to be the Finance, Education, and Health Minister of the State.
Gogoi, who was in Sualkuchi as part of a party campaign, said that he is "100% sure" that there will be a change of guard in Jalukbari after the conclusion of the polls. "The AJP will win as the people of this region have strong regional sentiments. It is a special Constituency," he said.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, responding to Lurin's claims, says that people from all the political parties should visit his Constituency to witness in person all the developmental works undertaken by the BJP-led government. "Eveyonwe should come here and we feel happy. If one comes here, he/she will bear witness to the various developmental works done by us. It is not only one of the most developed Constituencies in Assam, but in all of India, Sarma said.
It needs mention here that prime minister Narendra Modi will visit Dhekiajuli from where he will lay the foundation of two medical colleges in Charaideo and Bishwanath districts. He will also launch the 'Assam Mala' scheme under which the state public works department will upgrade the state highways.
Work will be taken up in 2500 km to be taken up at the initial stage, he said adding the estimated Rs 5,000 crore project is expected to be completed within 15 years.
The assembly election in Assam is due in March-April this year.
