The indigenous tribes and communities of Northeast India under the region’s unique geo-political, cultural and conglomerate identity have had a 2-day historic summit on January 18 and 19 of January under the summit title “Mongolasian Peoples’ Summit – Northeast India” which concluded at Sonapur in Assam.
The summit took place following the proposition on the political safeguard for the indigenous peoples of the region of Northeast India made at the Indigenous Mongolian Youth Conclave of Northeast India-2018, held on 19th October, 2018, at Guwahati.
On the first day of the summit, its participants have discussed and deliberated on the said proposition and finally on consensus basis took the resolution to form a political party under the region’s organic identity, and hence a party name was proposed and adopted by the house under its demographic and geo-political identity as “Indian Mongolian Peoples’ Confederation,” which is abbreviated as “IMPC.”
The party has been publicly declared through its inaugural program on the final day of the summit, that is, on January 19, 2019, by Neeva Konwar, a former member of National Women Commission. The party inaugural program was attended by many guests, dignitaries and its members from all across the states of Northeast India. The customary head of Tripura, that is, the king of Tripura also graced the occasion.
The first elected National level office-bearers of the party are Jones Ingti Kathar (Rtd. IAS) as National Convener, Bikram Hanse as National Secretary and Dr. Mahanta K. Langthasa as National Treasurer.
