History will Never Forgive if AASU & KMSS do not Come Together against CAA: Akhil Gogoihistory

New Delhi, March 8, 2020:

Assam's imprisoned peasant leader Akhil Gogoi, who is ailing from a number of illnesses, reached out to the people of Assam via a letter that history will never "forgive" if the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) do not come together.

Addressing the people of the State, Gogoi said that although he is physically unwell, he is in more distress because of mental trauma. Trauma over the fact that the andolan against the CAA is becoming "weak".

"Through this letter I am urging you to start a continuous and sustained andolan that will force the Government's hand", Gogoi write, and also called upon the people of the state to ensure that the BJP party is defeated

"Before writing my words, I want you express my thanks and gratitude. This thanks and gratitude is for the andolan you carried out while we (KMSS leaders) were jailed in prison" Gogoi further wrote, commending the people of the State. Gogoi also thanked several organizations such as the All Assam Students' Union (AASU), Asom Jatiyabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP), etc.

However, Gogoi said, to secure the future of the indigenous people, the people of the state have to protest as a whole, if they are to save Assam from "communal forces". He said that a collective fight against the CAA and other elements is the "need of the hour". Extending his support to the "political alternative" in Assam, Gogoi added that the people of the State have to step up if the revolution is to yield results.

Gogoi also said that the people of the State have to be united in the demand and called upon the organizations to intensify the movement to such a state that the CAA is rolled back. The peasant leader also reminded the people of the Agitation that took place on December 10, 11, and 12, and said that the movement must be re-ignited once again if history is to remember the movement leaders as men of capacity. Akhil also said that if the AASU and his own Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) do not unite now, they will never be forgiven by history.

Gogoi also wrote that that even if a collaboration between the two organizations is not possible, the AASU must form an indigenous forum and amp up the revolution against the CAA until it is scrapped by the BJP-led Government.

It may be mentioned here that Akhil was arrested by Assam Police on December 12 in the wake of the protests against the impending Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. A suo moto case was registered against him at Chandmari Police Station on the next day and on the very next day, the case was transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) who booked him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
