Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Borah on Saturday slammed Excise Minister, Parimal Suklabaidya over the hooch tragedy in Golaghat district of Assam that led to the death of 102 people by now.
Alleging the incident to be one of the worst tragedies post-independence, the Congress party has demanded the resignation of the excise minister.
Moreover, the leaders of the Congress party alleged that the incident took place due to the lapse on the part of the Assam Government which led to a large number of deaths after consuming spurious liquor.
Further APCC President Ripun Borah said, “The authorities concerned must be held accountable for the tragic incident and strict action must be taken against the excise officers. The government has no control over illegal activities going on in the state. These types of tragic incidents are results of such irresponsible attitude of the Government.”
Latest reports says that the death toll rises to 102 people.
