Former Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi on Saturday demanded judicial inquiry on the hooch tragedy of Assam that led to the death of 102 people in Golaghat district.
Addressing the media, Tarun Gogoi said, “The Assam Government is responsible for this very incident. This is the first story of large scale death in Assam History. They should have looked into the liquor business from the very beginning. They are working out on the guidelines of imported wines in the state but did not take any measures on the spurious liquor sellers.”
He added, “This government have been working on earning more revenue from these spurious liquor sellers from the day of holding power. The BJP government is trying to destroy Assam by making people drink such liquors. There should be an initiation of judicial inquiry rather than commissional one.”
