The dreaded ‘hooch’ has struck again in Assam’s Golaghat district. In the wake of the ‘hooch tragedy’ in Assam where at least 200 people died after consuming spurious liquor in the districts of Jorhat and Golaghat, two more lives have been claimed by the toxic substance. The deceased have been identified as Jitu Das and Ratul Das hailing from Panikora village at Numaligarh in Golaghat district.
The death of the two has again sent shockwaves across the state as Assam tries to recover from the worst liquor tragedy in the history of the nation.
Meanwhile, a huge quantity of ‘lali gur’ (molasses) used in the making of ‘sulai’ has been nabbed in Digboi in Tinsukia district. The authorities have nabbed 286 cans of molasses belonging to illicit businessman Santosh Sahu as the crackdown against the illegal substance continues in the state.
