Independence Day celebrated at counter-insurgency school

Guwahati (Assam), Aug 15, 2018:

The 72^nd Independence Day was celebrated at the Indian Army’s elite and world renowned Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare (CIJW) School at Vairengte in Mizoram with great enthusiasm and fervour on Tuesday.

The function was attended by veterans of the Indian Army from Mizoram as well as several prominent civil dignitaries, locals and children. The programme included unfurling of the national flag by the officiating commandant, followed by felicitation of Veer Naris.

This was followed by a weapons and equipment display, visit to Information & Research Centre and Motivation Hall.

The event also included extending of medical facilities to the veterans.

Towards the end, the station staff briefed the veterans on the latest benefits extended by the government and Indian Army and thanked them for their contribution to uplift the widows and the under-privileged.

The CIJW School continues to extend full support for any social initiatives by ESM and local administration at Lailapur in Assam and Vairengte and Kolasib in Mizoram. This was stated in a press release by Lt Col P Khongsai, Public Relation Officer (Defence), Guwahati.
