Guwahati, February 10, 2019:

A unit of the Red Horns Division under the aegis of Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavana, organized a musical talent hunt programme under the banner of “Singing Nalbari Idol to provide a platform for recognition of aspiring talents of the region.

The event received an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response with hundreds of youths of the region participating voluntarily for the Auditions held on 8 February.

The auditions were a simulation of the grand finale held on 9 February, where the shortlisted participants contested by performances evaluated by a panel consisting of eminent personalities to include Ashima Rishi, Chairperson Invictus Brigade Family Welfare Organisation and established musician, Dipak Sarma, Eminent Flutist, and Vitali Das, Vocalist and Composer of Assamese Film industry.

The prizes for the podium finishers were distributed at the Natya Mandir Auditorium at Nalbari, Bikoshita Barkataki and Mahasweta Sarma were adjudged for Second Runners up and Runners up position.

The winner of the event was Master Hrishikesh Sarma. Other distinguished guests attending the event included Brig and RN Sharma (Retd), a war veteran of great Wars of 1965 and 1971 and Colonel Chandel.

This initiative received a gratified response and served to validate the yeomen efforts of the Indian Army in making a positive and discernible change in the society through tangible results and has given a further impetus to the efforts of the forces in building rapport with the local populace and spread the message of goodwill in the remotest and inaccessible areas of this region and facilitate better quality of life through employment opportunities.
