Guwahati: The Border Security Force (BSF) under Guwahati Frontier on the intervening night of 24 and 25 October apprehended an Indian cattle smuggler.

The troopers rescued 34 cattle heads from the bordering areas of Coochbehar (West Bengal), and Dhubri and South Salmara (Assam).

The smuggler has been identified as Abdul Majid Mia (40) hailing from Coochbehar district in West Bengal.

The Indian cattle smuggler was apprehended along with cattle heads, while they were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

The apprehended cattle smuggler along with cattle heads have now been handed over to PS- Sitalkuchi (West Bengal) for further legal action.

According to sources, BSF have also rescued 32 Nos cattleheads in various other operations from bordering areas of Distt Coochbehar (WestBengal),
