AIUDF suspends Fazlul Karim Qasimi from party & post for Pro-Taliban remark

GUWAHATI: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has suspended its General Secretary Fazlul Karim Qasimi from the party and his position as Karim was arrested by the Assam Police on Saturday for pro-Taliban post on social media.

InsideNE was the first news organisation to expose Fazlul Karim Qasimi's link with AIUDF after his arrest.

"It's a sub-judice matter now. He will remain suspended from our party and his post until he gets a clean shit," said Aminul Islam, AIUDF Spokesperson, speaking with InsideNE.

Maulana Fazlul Karim is also the Secretary of Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind’s Assam unit, of which AIUDF Chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal is the State President as well.

The Assam Police have arrested as many as 14 persons across the state for posting pro-Taliban content on social media yesterday.

The accused are booked under the IT Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and various sections of CrPC.
