The historic Saraighat Bridge will remain closed on Friday for the inspection repairs to be made to bridge that has developed severe cracks.
The bridge is maintained by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) who will inspect damage it has undergone and will seek permission from the State Government to shut down the bridge for repairs.
Reportedly, the bridge is likely to remain closed for 90 days once the repairing starts. The traffic will be diverted to the new Saraighat Bridge till the repairs are complete.
