Akhil Gogoi was taken into custody on December 2019 by National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) following his alleged involvement in the violence during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests in Assam.
Last week, Gogoi was granted permission by a special NIA court to attend the oath taking ceremony.
Admitted at GMCH, Gogoi arrived at Assam assembly this morning for the ceremony where he was manhandled by security forces so that Gogoi could not interact with the media personnel.
"This is an insult to the whole Assamese community. Can you behave with an MLA in Assembly like this?" said Gogoi.
