A sixty-year old woman has died due to Japanese Encephalitis in Dima Hasao district of Assam. The woman has been identified as Kunjalota Hakmosa (60). She was a resident of Hatikhali of Dima Hasao district. Meanwhile, the Japanese Encephalitis death toll has risen to 50 in the state of Assam.
Hakmosa was admitted at Haflong Civil hospital and was detected with Japanese Encephalitis. She died today at the Haflong Civil Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Dima Hasao District Administration is geared up to educate the people and spreading awareness about the disease in the state.
Dr. Dipali Barman of the hospital, while talking to media persons said that this is the first case of the deadly disease in the hospital. Last year too a person belonging to Hatikhali had died at the disease due to the disease, she said.
"The only prevention is to ensure that you do not get bitten by mosquitoes", she said.
Meanwhile, the Assam Government, through a press statement has informed that drugs like Paracetamol, Mannitol, IV fluids and other antibiotics are available free of cost in every public health institution.
It may be mentioned that the treatment and diagnostic cost at Medical Colleges and District Hospitals are being borne by the State.
A certain number of beds in all the ICU and wards have been reserved for patients with JE/AES in all district hospitals and Medical Colleges.
