Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi has pointed his fingers at Assam Chief Minister as well as many other high-level officials and alleged that they are involved in illegal coal mining in Ledo, Tirap, and other protected forest areas. This has created much stir in the political circles as the Assam CM is known for his "zero-tolerance" policy towards corruption.
Meanwhile, the Tinsukia District Journalists' Association reacted to Pradyut Bordoloi's allegation that a section of mediapersons of Tinsukia District are involved in illegal coal trade and some have even travelled abroad.
Dr Rishi Das, who is the president of Tinsukia District Journalists Association in a press release said that if any media persons of Tinsukia District are involved in illegal coal trade and travel abroad on coal money, then Pradyut Bordoloi should immediately disclose there names and strict action shall be taken against those journalists.
Das also said that MP Pradyut Bordoloi ought to have named the persons specifically about the allegations instead of implicating some journalists leading to some misgiving.
Bordoloi has alleged that this illegal mining, which he alleged has been going on for a long time, is the biggest corruption in independent India. The Nowgong MP Bordoloi that the Assam CM is mum despite the fact that this illegal activity has been going on right under their noses and stated that this 'rat-hole' mining is completely illegal.
It may be mentioned that Former Margherita MLA and Minister Pradyut Bordoloi who served 124 Number Margherita Constituency for 18 years, was defeated handily by BJP Candidate Bhaskar Sharma by more than 22,000 votes.
