GUWAHATI: Assam has recorded a voter turnout of 68.31% till 4 PM in the third and final phase of polling, the Election Commission of India said.
Among the Constituencies, South Salmara in Lower Assam has recorded the highest voter turnout of 76.25%. On the other hand, Kamrup (Metro), the urban epicentre of the state, has registered a turnout of 46.47% so far.
Among Constituencies, Salmara South (78.09%) has registered the highest voter turnout till the time of filing this report.

Several political bigwigs — including ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, and BTR leaders Promod Boro and Hagrama Mohilary — have cast their ballots in the early hours of the polling process.
On the other hand, Gauhati East under Kamrup Metro, with 49% votes tolled so far, has witnessed the lowest turnout.
In Phase-III, there are 79,19,641 voters, of which 40,11,539 males, 39,07,963 females and 139 transgenders. In all, there are 2,33,74,087 electors across the 126 constituencies in Assam. In the Special Summary Revision, a total of 12,81,918 new electors have been enrolled. The state has a total of 2,89,474 electors who are above 80 years of age to whom postal ballot facility was provided.
