The Kamrup Metro district administration has directed all Licensed Arms holders of 21 Gaon Panchayat areas with the district to deposit their licensed arms.
The persons having firearms have been asked to deposit their weapons at their nearest police station within the next 3 days. The firearm holders will be given a deposit receipt against their weapons.
The gaon panchayats are- Dharapur, Azara, Garal, Majirgaon, Kahikuchi, Kamarkuchi, Digaru, Barkhat, Baruabari, Hahara, Tetelia, Sonapur, Nartap, Khetri, Topatoli, Dhopguri, Maloibari, Chandrapur, Panikheti, Amsing and Pachim Mayong.
It may be mentioned that the panchayat elections are scheduled in two phases. The first phase will be on December 5 and the second phase will be on December 9. The counting of votes will be held on December 12.
A total of 1,56,41,456 voters will go for polling and a total of 23,505 polling stations will be set up in the state. Out of these 8243 polling stations are ‘sensitive’ while 3665 as ‘very sensitive’.
