A national-level karate champion from Assam has become a shining example of economic self-reliance after becoming the proud owner of a 5 bigha farm where he grows several varieties of fruits and vegetables.
Hailing from Korora near Rangia in Kamrup district of the Northeast Indian state, Dudul Saale who once struggled with poverty has now earned praise from locals for scripting an exemplary success story.
Talking to media, Dudul says that although he has earned medals across the country through his exploits in Karate, his family's economic poor economic condition led him to consider other alternatives.

"Due to poverty, I was compelled to turn towards farming for the sake of my family. I have been engaged in farming for 10 long years and have grown all kinds of products on my farm -- such as brinjals, cabbages, etc."
He says that early in the morning, his hands begin work on the farm. Although his days as a karate champion are behind him, he is now working as a coach at the nearby karate coaching centre. Every noon, he departs to teach kids in at the Rangia Karate Academy where young aspiring talents are being moulded into competitive athletes.
At a time when scores of educated youths have thrown in the towel and unemployment has reached an all-time high across India, the story of this stellar athlete-turned-farmer shall serve as an inspiration. Dudul Saale has proven true the old adage -- where there is a will, there is a way.
