Karbi Anglong Forest Beat Officers Accused of Charging Bribes from Commercial Vehicles

Diphu, August 9, 2019:

In a recent development in the recent spate of bribery allegations at the Assam-Nagaland border, Lahorijan Forest Beat Officers have been alleged of charging bribes from the commercial vehicles of Karbi Anglong and Nagaland, passing through the check post around Lahorijan at Dordoli Beat Forest and Manja Beat Forest area.

The drivers of the vehicle alleged that they are charged Rupees 300 to Rupees 500 by the local authorities. It is to be mentioned that about 10 bamboo carrying trucks and 50-60 sand carrying trucks pass through every day. Similarly, an amount of Rs 15,000 from sand trucks is also allegedly being collected.

These drivers expressed inconvenience over the collection of such money by the beat officers in the region.
