A candlelight service was held in Hamren town in West Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday in memory of the victims of the Easter serial blasts which rocked Sri Lanka on Sunday.
The service was held in front of the Multi Utility Building (MUB) at 6 pm. The event was organized by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council EM Rupsing Teron, in collaboration with District Commissioner of West Karbi Anglong Syed Isfaqur Rahman, and Chairman of Hamren Town committee Biren Tisso. Many other senior-level officials were present during the service.
Participants of all age groups from different churches as well as the general public participated and expressed their grief and paid condolences to the family members of the 359 people who lost their lives in the bomb blasts.
The Hamren Town church leaders also offered prayers to God to comfort the bereaved families and for the greater peace and stability of the world.
Over 359 were killed in a string of eight devastating blasts, including suicide attacks at churches and luxury hotels frequented by foreigners on Easter day Sunday in Sri Lanka. The Islamic State terror outfit has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
