The Karbi community across Karbi Anglong observed Rongker on Saturday.
Rongker is observed as a yearly religious festival of the Karbis which is performed by every villager. Every villager is allotted a place in the village for performing the rituals of the festival. Kurusar (priest) perform prayers and offer animal sacrifices to appease the Karbi deities and seek their blessings for the welfare of the village and its protection from any evil entities and natural calamities. The community believes that non-observance of the ritual will invite misfortune upon the village and its inhabitants.

The villagers residing across the entire district form a committee with the involvement of each and every villager to monitor the preparation of Rongker puja.
The festival is celebrated in various places of the district by the community to make the event a joyous and cheerful one. However," Diphu Rongsopi, Birla Hemari Bey village while various places observed Rongker.
