RAHA: In a shocking incident reported from Raha in Assam's Nagaon district, a 12-year-old minor who was working as a house help was mysteriously charred to death yesterday evening. The patriarch of the family that she was working for and his son have been arrested by police in Nagaon.
A hue-and-cry ensued on social media yesterday after this tragic event came to light, with suspicion immediately falling on the girl's employers. Social media posts immediately held the employers responsible for the demise of the girl, although the family had claimed that their employee had died by suicide.
After an initial inspection, it is suspected that the minor was murdered and then burnt.

Assam's Director General of Police Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta responding to a call for justice wrote: "As per her employer, the girl committed suicide. However, after initial inspection, it is suspected that she was murdered and then burnt. She was also underage to be working as a domestic help. Therefore, two accused were taken into custody immediately. Investigation is on."
Following suit, Nagaon police took to social media to confirm that a track investigation is going on under supervision of senior officers.Two suspected accussed have already been arrested.
"We will ensure speedy completion of investigation and submission of chargesheet," the police tweeted further.
Talking to InsideNE, a senior police official said that an investigation is currently underway to ascertain the cause of death.
