Kaziranga Authority Looks to Attract More Tourists with 'Ethnic' Touch

Kaliabor, October 23, 2019:

Kaliabor Sub-Divisional Administration and the Kaziranga National Park Authority are jointly making an effort to promote eco-tourism with a touch of tribal ethnic flavours in the areas adjacent to the National Park.

A meeting was organized at Natundanga Village under Burapahar Range of Kaziranga National Park yesterday. Mr. P. Shivkumar, Director of Kaziranga National Park, Mr. Bitupon Neog, SDO Kaliabor, Nipu Kalita, Officer In-Charge Jakhalabandha Police Station, Amaguri Gaon Panchayat Officials, PWD officials and various NGOs participated in the meeting.

Nipu Kalita, the Officer in-charge of Jakhalabandha Police Station emphasized on promoting the ethnic tradition of different tribes of people in the Kaziranga National Park area.

The idea of serving ethnic food in traditional attire, creating possibilities of home stay in the village areas for the tourists in a completely natural environment would definitely attract more tourists, he said. He also suggested that the tourism sector and the tourists should be protected and promoted through a planned mechanism.

Sharing his views P. Shivkumar, Director of Kaziranga National Park stated that there is enormous potential of 'Eco-Tourism' in the National Park and the national park authority is interested in promoting new possibilities of tourism in Kaziranga, with the help of the local residents.

Bitupon Neog the sub divisional officer (Civil) of Kaliabor said that Kaliabor has huge potential in rural tourism sector, as there are many historical places and a profound cultural and traditional attractions.

He added that if the tourism of Kaziranga National Park could be expanded to Kaliabor, then it would certainly create new possibilities for the tourism industry, and it will also be a successful model for income and employment generation.
