The Bengali United Forum of Assam (BUFA) has alleged that Thursday’s killings of five people by unidentified gunmen near Dhola-Sadiya bridge were a conspiracy hatched by the state government to divert the attention of people from the issues of the state.
The allegation was made by Arun Roy, member of BUFA.
“Such killings were executed in the state even when Congress and AGP were in power. This time, this happened when the BJP has been in power. The Bengali-speaking people have always been victims of political conspiracies,” he alleged.
Another member, Shantanu Mukherjee, said the assailants should also kill the 70 lakh Bengalis in the state if the five persons were killed just because they were Bengalis.
He alleged that the home department had completely failed to prevent people from making provocative statements on the social media.
“Many people are still making provocative statements on the issue even after five persons were brutally murdered but no actions are being taken against them. The government should take steps to arrest all the people who are spreading communal hatred on the social media through their inflammatory statements,” he demanded.
He said the government should not hesitate in arresting MLAs, such as BJP's Shiladitya Dev as well as AIUDF's Aminul Islam.
