Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) Chief Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday lashed out against the Assam administration for the unfortunate incident in Assam’s Biswanath Chariali in which a 68-year-old Muslim man, Shaukat Ali, was beaten up by a mob after allegedly selling beef. Ali is subsequently recuperating from his injuries at Civil Hospital in the locality.
“I condemn the incident that occurred in Biswanath Chariali. Prior to this, such incidents had occurred in Uttar Pradesh. Such communal incidents had been reported from North India, but it is unfortunate that communal incident has been reported in Assam”, he said.
Gogoi also appealed to the Government to take action against the culprits. “Culprits should seek an apology in public. The government should punish them. If the Assam Government is not involved in this incident, they will take prompt action against the incident.”
Gogoi further alleged that Assam authorities are hand-in-glove with the RSS. “The Assam Government is weak and they are now protectors of the RSS and the DGP is a weak man.”
The incident has created a furor in all of Assam after a video of the incident went viral on social media four days after the incident actually took place.
